Dushanbe, Tajikistan, October 23, 2020 – General Frank McKenzie, Commander, U.S. Central Command, conducted his first visit to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Thursday, October 22, 2020, and met with President Emomali Rahmon and senior Ministry of Defense and security officials. The leaders discussed areas of mutual concern, including counter terrorism and border security, and ways that the United States and Tajikistan can continue to work together to advance security and stability in the Central Asian region, including in Afghanistan. The United States and Tajikistan maintain a strong strategic partnership. General McKenzie and his interlocutors emphasized shared commitment to continuing close cooperation between the U.S. and Tajik security forces.
