The U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe announces a call for proposals for the 2019-2020 English for Journalists Program with the possibility of extending for another year. The purpose of this program is to provide an opportunity for journalists to gain English language skills in order to access English language sources, write English articles, and conduct interviews and reports in English. During the course, journalists will also be familiarized with international standards of journalism ethics.
The program should consist of English language courses (beginner, intermediate, and advance levels) at least 20 hours per month. The total hours in one year project should consist of 200 hours of the English instruction classes. The projects can be implemented in Dushanbe, Khujand or Bokhtar. The project in Dushanbe should be for 120 journalists, 30 in Khujand, and 30 in Bokhtar. Projects that involve higher numbers of journalists with lower costs are encouraged. To be eligible for consideration, the organization must be currently engaged in an English language teaching program and should have highly qualified English language instructors both in elementary and advanced levels. Both governmental and non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply for this program and should have a teaching license.
Proposals should include both a narrative project description and a detailed budget breakdown in Microsoft Excel format. The budget (in Excel format) should have a detailed breakdown of costs for the one-year program including instruction, books/materials, students’ transportation and snacks, project administration, etc.
