New U.S. Ambassador Manuel Micaller Presents His Credentials to President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon

Dushanbe, Tajikistan, March 10, 2023 – Mr. Manuel P. Micaller, Jr., Ambassador of the United States to Republic of Tajikistan, presented his credentials to President Emomali Rahmon March 9.

During the ceremony, both sides expressed determination to enhance and expand the already strong bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States.

Mr. Manuel Micaller replaced Mr. John Mark Pommersheim, who served as U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan from 2019 to 2022.

Ambassador Manuel Micaller is a career member of the Senior U.S. Foreign Service, rank of Minister Counselor.  Prior to becoming Ambassador to Tajikistan, he served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Kathmandu, Nepal and the U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Mr. Micaller’s other assignments include Morocco, Turkmenistan, and Russia.  In Washington, he served in the Department of State’s Operations Center and Executive Secretariat Staff as well as positions in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
