U.S. Embassy representatives and Shurobod District Chairman Amirkhon Ikromzoda, officiated the opening of Jilga School in the village of Jilga, Shurobod District, in Khatlon Province.
The U.S. Government is proud to support the Tajikistan Government to increase access to primary education. Since 2011, the U.S. Embassy has collaborated closely with Shurobod district leaders to construct Jilga School in order to provide education opportunities to children from surrounding, remote villages. Jilga School is now able to provide education to more than 350 children who otherwise would not have access to education.
The United States is a steadfast partner with the Tajik government in the education sector. The new addition to Jilga School shows one of the numerous ways the U.S. Government and Shurobad Ministry of Education work together to improve the quality of life and education of students in Shurobod District.
Since 1992, the American people have provided over $1 billion in programs and humanitarian aid that support Tajikistan’s democratic institutions, health care, education and economic growth.
