Global Entrepreneurship Week 2015 (GEW – 2015) will be held November 16-20 in Tajikistan. GEW – 2015 is the largest event in the world for innovators and startups to bring together new ideas for economic growth and expanding human welfare.
The event will be organized by the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan and the American Chamber of Commerce in Tajikistan, in cooperation with the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia – Tajikistan.
The first official event of the Global Entrepreneurship Week will be a roundtable on “Entrepreneurship – Innovative Development of the Economy,” to will be held in Khujand on Monday, November 16.
On November 17, Global Entrepreneurship Week launches in the capital of Tajikistan. The American Corner in Dushanbe will host an interactive video conference featuring Sergey Gribov – an entrepreneur in the field of technology and investment and the founder of the large number of startups in the U.S., Israel, and Russia. The video conference will be broadcast simultaneously in all of the American Corners around Tajikistan, including in Khujand, Panjikent, Isfara, Gharm, Kulob, Qurgonteppa, Khorog, and Murghob.
The main activities of Global Entrepreneurship Week will take place on November 18 at the conference hall of National Library of Tajikistan, featuring an international forum for entrepreneurs “Business – Innovative Development of the Economy”.
The planned speakers for the forum will be the First Deputy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatali Said, the members of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the U.S. Embassy in Tajikistan Leslie M. Hayden, U.K. Ambassador to Tajikistan Hugh Philpott, Senior advisor on Youth Entrepreneurship of the U.S. State Department Vanessa Beary, Regional Manager on Public and Government Policy at Google Asia-Pacific Alex Long, and CEO of EGI Development Karin Shipman. Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Daniel Zaretsky will give a presentation about ecosystem of Global Entrepreneurship Week, which works worldwide.
On the same day a roundtable on the topic “Tajik Handicraft: Sustainable and Inclusive Development” will be held by the international organization CESVI, by presenting Handicraft center which created in the Navruzgoh Complex.
Participants will include representatives of the craft and tourism sector, enterprises, international organizations, NGOs, and government agencies.
Master Classes from experts will be held on Thursday, November 19.
On November 19, Ozodkhon Davlatshoev (instructor and expert of the Business incubator of Tajikistan) will give a seminar on the theme of “Understanding and Attitude to the Risks of Startup Projects.” The event will be held at 16:00 in the Conference Hall of the Serena Hotel in Dushanbe.
Also on this day in the Tcell Plaza, Alex Long, expert on issues of public policy currently working in the Asia-Pacific region for Google, will host an informational meeting. Alex Long will speak on “The Culture of Innovation at Google” where he will discuss the philosophy of external and internal rules of work of employees in the worldwide known company.
On the last day of the Global Entrepreneurship Week in Tajikistan, members of the American Chamber of Commerce will host educational study tours to their own offices and factories. The Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia – Tajikistan will organize these study tours for organizations such as Tcell, Coca-Cola Tajikistan, FINCA Tajikistan and Dushanbe Sheraton Hotel. The purpose of organizing these tours is to familiarize students with the activities of international companies.
Global Entrepreneurship week will end by hosting a Global Women’s Forum, organized by the Embassy of the United States of America in Tajikistan. The forum will be held at the Ismaili Centre in Dushanbe with the participation of international experts, representatives of international organizations and state structures of the Republic of Tajikistan. During the forum there will be organized an exhibition of handicraft, agro-industrial and IT products.
A wrap-up event will summarize the results of the Global Entrepreneurship Week on November 20 at the Sheraton Hotel, where the organizers will be able to tell us about GEW 2015, and discuss the plans regarding Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016.
