On the morning of September 4, armed gunmen clashed with Tajik police in separate incidents in the city of Dushanbe. Tajik authorities are investigating.
Although the significance of these events is unclear, they may be precursors to other acts of violence. The US Embassy has been closed, and official Americans have been advised to shelter in place and not send children to school today, September 4.
